After translating his red carpet-ready looks into bridal gowns, Zac Posen is continuing his partnership with Blue Nile with his first line of genderless wedding jewelry. The New York-based fashion designer launched his new ZAC Zac Posen range of gold and silver wedding bands and engagement rings.
Priced from $590 to $7,990, the new line includes modern and Art Deco-inspired designs made with 14 karat white or yellow gold; platinum silver; and ethically sourced diamonds. Minimalist options include 6mm beveled-edge bands; gold or platinum silver rings set with a single princess cut, round or baguette diamond; curved rings dotted with 0.25 carats of diamonds; and sleek double bands with two Asscher diamonds.

Brides and grooms seeking vintage romance will find luxurious options such as a triple-row baguette and pavé diamond band in 14 karat white or yellow gold (and a total of 1.5 or 0.75 carats), a milgrain-trimmed gold ring adorned with sextets of round diamonds that alternate with trios of baguette diamonds, and a twisting ring lined with diamonds, to name a few. Equally decadent Deco pieces include a pavé diamond crown curved ring in 14 karat white or yellow gold and a bezel-set princess cut diamond band.
Speaking from Blue Nile’s boutique at the Westfield Century City shopping center in Los Angeles (where he fêted the launch Sept. 25), Posen tells The Hollywood Reporter why he’s drawn to the wedding world: “What I love about weddings is that for many people, their wedding is their one experience in which they have the opportunity to create and fulfill their fantasies through their personal style, whether it be through jewelry, flowers, food or fashion.”

Posen first joined Blue Nile’s roster of designers in 2014, and he previously released dress collections with White One Bridal and David’s Bridal. He most recently created a Princess Diana-inspired gown for friend and Ariel Investments chief communications officer Arielle Patrick for her wedding to fellow Wall Street executive Aaron Goldstein. He also designed custom wedding dresses for Katharine McPhee (when she wed producer David Foster) and Portia de Rossi (for her nuptials with Ellen DeGeneres), who are among a long list of A-list clients.
“My bridal jewelry designs for Blue Nile were about creating a collection that would feel timeless, with pieces that respect the materials and stones. I really hope that pieces from the collection will become family heirlooms,” continues Posen.
Posen appreciated that Blue Nile “was such a supporter and driving force with me on approaching bridal jewelry from a different point of view. I think the new collection opens a great conversation on wedding and engagement jewelry and allows for new approaches so everyone feels like they can be a part of it… The team at Blue Nile is just lovely, and it’s such a pleasure to collaborate with a brand that delivers both incredible products and service to their customers. They really work toward making the customer feel comfortable, whether that is virtually or in-person at one of their showrooms.”

Below, Posen shares how his personal style changed over the last year and a half, what his self-care routine looks like and why he’s happy to step away from red carpet dressing (for a while, anyway). Read on and shop a few pieces from Blue Nile’s Zac Zac Posen jewelry collection.

How has your personal style evolved since the pandemic?
I’ve definitely become more casual in my personal style. Over the past year and a half, I have adopted a much more active, health-oriented lifestyle. I also try to consume less because I just don’t need so much clothing. Suits for many years were my uniform — whether it was going to work when I had an atelier, being on TV or representing Brooks Brothers. While much has changed, I still love dressing up, but it’s less of a priority in my life. Maybe I feel happier and more comfortable in my own skin.
What does your self-care routine look like these days?
My self-care routine now consists of a daily workout — a mix of cardio, weight training, bands and lots of stretching, swimming and yoga, hot and cold plunging, and healthy eating! Cooking with Zac, my cookbook, is full of healthy recipes for fish, greens and broths. I also take supplements and daily vitamins and drink lots of tea!
As for skincare, I primarily follow a regimen developed for me by [L.A. boutique] Knockout Beauty. I also love to take magnesium salt baths!
How are you feeling about the return of events, whether it’s red carpets or weddings?
Remember I’m a New Yorker and it’s thrilling to be able to go to live events: theater on Broadway, the New York City Ballet, the Metropolitan Opera.
The red carpet can be pretty overwhelming at times. I am very happy with only taking on and dressing for very select projects or private commissions. People are feeling glamorous again but I also sense that there is a new more relaxed attitude with less excess coming into focus. I am thrilled when I see people choosing to wear pieces that combine quality and attention to detail with substance. A rare feat!
