L.A.-favorite premium matcha company Ashu’s and science-led skin care brand Symbiome have partnered on a limited-release matcha mask bringing the healing power of green tea to the face.
Established in Malibu in 2024, Ashu’s prioritizes high-grade, small-batch, thoughtfully-sourced Japanese matcha. Founded in San Francisco in 2017, Symbiome is known for its minimalist, science-first formulas and celebrity following, namely Kate Hudson, who started off as a loyal customer before officially joining the team in 2023 as Creative Advisor. “Almost immediately after I started using Symbiome skincare, I could see and feel the difference,” said Hudson upon her switch from consumer to partner.

Now, these two brands, each with a cult following of their own, have created a treatment that turns a daily wellness ritual into a skin-health moment.
Symbiome x Ashu’s The Ceremony Matcha Mask
Polishing and restoring antioxidant therapy.
Available for pre-order now on symbiome.com to be released in limited quantities, The Ceremony Matcha Mask blends first-flush matcha sourced for its high antioxidant content with Symbiome’s signature fermented botanicals. This results in a soothing gel mask designed to help neutralize oxidative stress, visibly calm redness and support the skin barrier, amongst a host of other benefits, further detailed below. The formula bridges ancient tea ceremony traditions with modern skin microbiome science.
To use, apply an even layer of The Ceremony Matcha Mask to clean, dry skin. Leave on for 15 to 20 minutes before rinsing with lukewarm water. The brand recommends using it two to three times per week. Additional ingredients and benefits include omega-rich seje and pequi oils to strengthen the skin’s lipid barrier for improved resilience, and glycerin to bind moisture to the skin without heaviness or congestion. With regular use, the product helps refine texture and promote a more even-looking tone.
The ceremonial-inspired, microbiome science-rooted skin-care treatment retails for $65, available exclusively on symbiome.com.
