Ryan Gosling has a new breakout role: the latest global ambassador for Tag Heuer, marking his first brand partnership. In the Swiss watch brand’s launch campaign for its new Carrera Three Hands timepiece collection, the star channels the stuntman he played in Drive, a character that transformed him from heartthrob to A-list leading man.
The new three-hand stainless-steel watches are a continuation of the luxury horology house’s motor racing heritage. (No wonder Tag Heuer’s Monaco was Steve McQueen’s timekeeper of choice.) The 13-piece collection ($2,300 to $3,300) comprises four styles: the Carrera Twin-Time 41 millimeter, and the Carrera Day Date in 41mm, 39mm and 29mm diameters, all boasting “bolder hands and refined index integration” for readability.

The 39mm and 41mm Day Date sizes feature a newly refined ergonomic case that houses a Calibre 7 or 9 automatic movement, and come in a new H-shaped steel version or a brown alligator leather strap. The Twin-Time has rhodium-plated indexes with Super-Luminova.
“I appreciate its timeless design,” Gosling said of the sleek new wristwatches in a statement. “I like clean and simple design generally. Growing up, we lived on a pretty tight budget. I gravitated toward things that were simple and timeless so I didn’t have to think about keeping up with trends.”

The 40-year-old actor joins Chris Hemsworth and Patrick Dempsey as a Hollywood friend of the watchmaker, which also counts sports record-breakers such as Naomi Osaka, race-car driver Alex Rossi, NBA player Jimmy Butler and surfer Maya Gabeira.
Expect the latest Carrera to peek out from beneath Gosling’s sleeves the next time he walks the red carpet. “Partnering with [Tag Heuer] was an easy decision and time, in general, is just something I think a lot about now,” Gosling also said in the release. “My kids are growing up fast so I keep an eye on the clock in a way I never used to.”
Of the watchmaker’s latest celebrity representative, Tag Heuer CEO Frédéric Arnault said, “A star since his early days, he has grown to become an icon — one both enigmatic and inscrutable. He is a true artist who chooses his projects with utmost care and dedicates himself to them like no other, not only shaping his character but the entire creative direction. The movie Drive represents the strongest link with who we are today, and we are excited about the creative projects we have together.”
Ahead, shop the new Carrera Three Hands watches, plus other Tag Heuer pieces for giving your timepiece collection a fall refresh.
