Although Nintendo rarely marks down their consoles and games, surprisingly, right now happens to be one of the best times to buy the original Nintendo Switch.

With the new Nintendo Switch 2 in limited stock in stores, Walmart has marked down the price of the Nintendo Switch 1. Perhaps the retailer decided to discount prices to make room in their inventory for the new gaming console.

The international version of the Nintendo Switch OLED is unlocked and region-free, so there’s no restrictions on games, software, downloads, or Nintendo eShop. If you own U.S.-based games (physical or digital), they would be compatible with this model.

However, the only differences between the Japanese version and the North American version are their packaging and instructions (it’s in Japanese), and power supply. You’d need to have a travel adaptor to convert from a Japanese outlet to an American outlet. Everything else is the same.
