Laneige is celebrating AAPI Heritage Month with a sweet new collection inspired by a cult-favorite Asian treat.
The Sydney Sweeney-approved K-beauty brand has debuted a limited-edition bubble tea collection featuring matcha and taro flavors of the best-selling Lip Glowy Balm and Lip Sleeping Mask ($19 to $24), which the brand says are the No. 1 lip treatment products in the U.S. Made from green tea, matcha has an earthy, umami taste, while taro is a root vegetable with a need, coconut-like flavor. The products are available at laneige.com and online and in stores at Sephora.

The Lip Glowy Balm features a lightweight, ultra-hydrating formula with shea and murumuru seed butters and a glossy finish. The Lip Sleeping Mask — a favorite of the Anyone But You star — is an overnight treatment that also features shea and murumuru seed butters alongside vitamin C and hydrating antioxidants to deliver “visibly smooth, hydrated lips” in the morning, per Laneige.
The brand is also teaming with popular drink chain Boba Guys, which will offer free samples, exclusive merch (such as Laneige-themed reusable cup) and giveaways at select stores in Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco from May 14 to June 14. The boba shop is also offering a Laneige-inspired ube and taro drink with collagen peptides, matcha cloud foam and toasted coconut toppings.
Created in Taiwan in the 1980s, bubble tea – also known as boba tea — is known for its chewy tapioca pearls and is usually made with black or green tea. (Actor Donald Glover is such a big boba fan that he opened his own shop in Los Angeles.)
The boba-inspired lip products are among Laneige’s newest dessert-inspired releases. The Korean beauty company also debuted a pink Strawberry Sprinkles shade of the Glaze Craze Tinted Lip Serum and a peach iced tea scents for the popular Lip Glowy Balm.
