It was another big fall reveal for Apple earlier this month as the tech giant unveiled its newest slate of iPhones. The iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro were announced during Apple’s hardware event in Cupertino, California, with both models featuring substantial upgrades in features and specs.

The reimagined iPhone 17 features a 6.3-inch screen (an increase of 0.2 inches from the iPhone 16) with a 120 Hz display that is a big step up from the iPhone 16’s 60 Hz. Apple says the Super Retina screen is “bigger and brighter, enabling supersmooth scrolling, immersive gaming, and improved efficiency.”

The phone also boasts a 48 MP camera, ideal for capturing personal photos and social media content alike.
The iPhone 17 Pro, meanwhile, comes in at 6.9 inches and features an aluminum band around the screen, rather than titanium, plus a ceramic shield backing. While the regular iPhone has two camera lenses, the 17 Pro features three lenses, arranged together in a rectangular bar that extends across the back of the phone. Both phones also support Dolby Vision HDR recording.
Both models feature A19 Pro, the most powerful and efficient iPhone chip yet, which enables faster response rates and the ability to switch between applications with ease. And “best-ever battery life” ensures that you can text, make calls or stream content all day without needing to plug in.
Price-wise, the iPhone 17 has a retail value of $830 and up. But right now, you can get an iPhone 17 for free through T-Mobile.
The carrier’s “iPhone 17 Pro on Us” deal gets you the new Pro model for free when you trade in your old phone and sign up for a new plan. What’s more: T-Mobile will now pay off your old phone up to $800 per line. The carrier says you’ll save 20% by going with T-Mobile versus other cell phone providers, not to mention scoring a host of subscriber-only benefits and perks.
The iPhone models are available as part of T-Mobile’s “Experience” plans, which get you unlimited talk, text and data. The “Experience More” plan is one of the best values online (and in-store), with 60GB of high-speed mobile hotspot data included, plus unlimited texting and up to 15GB of high-speed data in Mexico, Canada and more than 200 international destinations. Right now, you can get three lines for just $140/month total. That’s less than $50 per number for all of the “Experience More” plan perks.
For entertainment fans, T-Mobile customers also get free Netflix and free Apple TV+ subscription included in the monthly price of the “Experience More” plan — a savings of more than $20 a month versus paying for those streamers separately.
What we like: If you’re someone who wants the latest tech, the “Experience More” plan gives you the option to upgrade your phone for free every two years. Move up to the “Experience Beyond” plan to get more international data, unlimited mobile hotspotting and the option to upgrade your phone each year. You also get a free Hulu subscription included, in addition to free Netflix and Apple TV+.
While Verizon dominated the conversation about network strength and availability in recent years, T-Mobile is now the “Best Mobile Network in the U.S.” according to Speedtest by Ookla, a third-party service that measures and rates connection speeds. T-Mobile also boasts the “largest, fastest, most advanced 5G network,” according to the brand, with “more towers, more bandwidth and a signal that goes farther.”
T-Satellite, meanwhile, is the only mobile satellite network, working with SpaceX’s Starlink to provide more connectivity in areas with limited or no cellular coverage. With more than 650 satellites, this is the largest satellite-to-mobile constellation, meaning T-Mobile can keep you connected in places no carrier towers can reach. And if you’re using an iPhone, you get T-Satellite automatically — no setup, no stress, no pointing at the sky.
Find out more about how to get a free iPhone with T-Mobile by heading over to their site here. There, you’ll also find deals on the Apple Watch Series 11 (up to $200 off) and the new AirPods Pro 3.
