First released to the public in 1985, Nike Air Jordan sneakers are some of the most iconic pair of shoes in pop culture. They not only impacted the NBA, but they also quickly became the go-to sneakers for celebrities over the decades. In the lead-up to the 40th anniversary of the design, the sports apparel company has been dropping new colorways and styles of all of Michael Jordan’s signature shoes.
Available on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 7 a.m. PT/10 p.m. ET, the new Nike Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG sneakers ($180) come in a midnight black and silver colorway and are instantly recognizable with their classic silhouette and style — and they’re perfect for casual wear or at the office.

Designed with premium leather, the kicks are lightweight with solid rubber outsoles for durability, traction and bounce. Nike’s iconic stitched-down Swoosh logo comes in metallic gray to match its midsole with a black tip and mudguard to catch eyes on the court or streets. And as a throwback to the ’80s, the shoes even have the original Air Jordan logo on the outer collars.

The Air Jordans first stepped onto the shoe scene on April 1, 1985, during the basketball icon’s run with the Chicago Bulls. Its game-changing debut was immortalized in Air, the Golden Globes-nominated film starring Ben Affleck as Nike co-founder Philip Knight and Matt Damon as sports marketing executive Sony Vaccaro. (The Amazon original film is streaming on Prime Video.)
The Jordan shoe brand has since teamed with Supreme, Off-White, Billie Eilish, Drake, Travis Scott, Will Smith and many others, and it’s been spotted on the famous feet of everyone from Jay-Z and A$AP Rocky to Rihanna and stylist-turned-Nike designer Aleali May, to name just a few.
Shop the Nike Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG sneakers for $180 starting on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 7 a.m. PT/10 a.m. ET at Nike.com. They also come in sizes for little kids and babies & toddlers with prices starting at $70.
