With laptop and smartphone batteries as strong as ever, it’s tempting to leave your charger at home, especially if you’re committed to the digital nomad life or enjoy a flexible work schedule. However, there’s nothing more stressful than finding a coffee shop or library when your battery is in the red — especially with a looming deadline or Zoom call. That’s when the best portable chargers can come to the rescue.

The most important thing to know about portable chargers is the difference between milliamperes (mAh), or the battery capacity; and the wattage (W), which is essentially the speed of energy. Simply put, the higher the mAh, the more battery life you’ll get; while higher wattage means faster charging. Output is measured in Ampheres: take the number of watts and divide it by the voltage, and you’ll get the amound of energy that your portable battery can deliver.

You’ll want to think about how much power you need for your devices. Most phones require 5 to 20W for charging, tablets need between 10W to 30W and laptops need between 60W to 100W. You’ll also want to make sure that you have the right charging cable that can support those charging speeds.
Other things to consider are the size and weight: do you need it to fit easily into a backpack or laptop bag, and are you looking to travel light on a long flight? And if you’re a photographer, content creator or anyone who needs to charge more than a phone, a portable charger with an AC output is key for plugging in camera batteries, hard drives and other electronics.
With all of that in mind, here are more than 10 of the best portable chargers to consider for laptops, smartphones, batteries and even cars.

As far as portable heat, it offers three temperature ranges (95 to 107°F, 104 to 118°F and 118 to 131°F) and lasts for up to eight hours, depending on usage.
This multi-tasking battery is also one of our go-to holiday gifts: one NYC-dwelling recipient even says they never leave home without it in their pocket.
