“Quality is everything, especially when considering vegan and animal-free substitutes in clothing,” Jack Tuftie, brand manager at Unreal Fur, tells The Hollywood Reporter. “Our faux furs are known for their lushness and incredible hand-feel because we use modacrylic fibers. We use modacrylic formulas rather than polyester to avoid scratchiness and a plastic-like finish when light hits the jackets.”
Tuftie explains that another detail to look out for is depth and dimensionality in the tones of the faux fur. “Jackets that feature various colors in the roots and tips of their fibers tend to look more high-end. They’re also just more fun to wear. You want something that evolves as you style it with different outfits and pieces in your wardrobe.”
